PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimar Kinkead (ranked 1232 p4p, 1762 weight class) and Samir Reid (ranked 169 p4p, 226 weight class). Kinkead comes to the cage accompanied by No Sunshine. Reid is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Who Do I Have To Kill To Get Out Of Here?. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimar Kinkead!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Samir Reid!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinkead misses with a takedown attempt - Reid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kinkead shoots in and drives through. Reid sprawls well.
Reid lands with a cross.
Kinkead takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kinkead shoots for a takedown but Reid saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kinkead has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Reid.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimar Kinkead. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reid just misses with a punch to the body.
Reid's coach down at Freaky Fight Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Reid's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Reid gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kinkead to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kinkead drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reid dives on top into guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Reid trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reid won't allow Kinkead to sweep him here.

Kinkead looking for a guillotine here but Reid defends easily.
Kinkead has control of Reid's left arm, preventing Reid from doing any damage.

Kinkead is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kinkead has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Reid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Reid trying to control the position from guard on top but Kinkead is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kinkead looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kinkead is looking to cinch up a triangle. Reid throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kinkead's body to avoid the submission. Kinkead has instead reached around Reid's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kinkead arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jimar Kinkead!
