Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Tomoguchi (ranked 2281 p4p, 2236 weight class) and Joey Chandler (ranked 239 p4p, 233 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chandler jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Tomoguchi was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Tomoguchi's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Tomoguchi duly obliges.

Chandler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Tomoguchi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chandler working his ground and pound in the gym.
Chandler takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Chandler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tomoguchi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chandler has managed to get both his arms back between Tomoguchi's legs - danger averted.

Tomoguchi has his foot on Chandler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chandler works his way back into a safe position though.

Tomoguchi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tomoguchi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Tomoguchi has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Chandler should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Tomoguchi has tightened it up now! Chandler should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Shinji Tomoguchi!
Shinji Tomoguchi was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
