PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tre Jorgensen (ranked 5093 p4p, 5824 weight class) and Vito Romero Jr (ranked 473 p4p, 522 weight class). Vito Romero Jr is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tre Jorgensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vito Romero Jr!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jorgensen shoots in and bounces Romero Jr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jorgensen controlling from the top position.
Romero Jr controls Jorgensen momentarily but Jorgensen frees himself.

Jorgensen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Romero Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jorgensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jorgensen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jorgensen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Romero Jr's head.
Romero Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jorgensen gets to his feet. Romero Jr looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Romero Jr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It looks like Tre Jorgensen has been cut.

Romero Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jorgensen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Romero Jr on his heels. He'll look to pass Romero Jr's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jorgensen forces his way into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Romero Jr is looking to improve his position.
Jorgensen is controlling the pace.
Jorgensen wants to stand up but Romero Jr has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Jorgensen uses his free foot to push down on Romero Jr's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Romero Jr.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jorgensen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Romero Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

A jab from Romero Jr misses.
Jorgensen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Romero Jr can do to turn this around?

Jorgensen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Romero Jr's guard.
Romero Jr controls Jorgensen momentarily but Jorgensen frees himself.
Tre Jorgensen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jorgensen is trying to drag Romero Jr to the mat but Romero Jr just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jorgensen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Romero Jr's guard.

Jorgensen winds up and cracks Romero Jr with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Romero Jr leaves Jorgensen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

I really don't envy Romero Jr right now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jorgensen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
