Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vern Vurris (ranked 2920 p4p, 5777 weight class) and Hyu Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Head is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eye of the tiger. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head misses with a takedown attempt
and Vurris connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Head shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Vurris counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Head wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Vurris landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Head is trying to push Vurris away but Vurris has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head misses with a punch on the inside.

Head with a poor takedown
and Vurris counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Head has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Vern Vurris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hyu Head.

Vurris moves into the clinch successfully.
Vurris drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Vurris has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Head after a bit of a struggle.

Vurris can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Head is looking to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vurris seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Head for as long as he can get away with.

and Vurris counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Head sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Head shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vurris napping and manages to drive through into side control!

A relieved looking Vern Vurris thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
