Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Hampton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stew Grif! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hampton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Grif's guard. Grif has momentary wrist control but Hampton slips an elbow through the middle. Grif avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hampton wants to stand but Grif has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hampton with a nice head shot there. Grif not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Grif is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hampton wants to control from the top but Grif keeps moving. Hampton chips away with some ground and pound. Grif is looking for a triangle but Hampton pushes his legs off easily.
Grif looking for a sweep. Not yet Grif, not yet. Hampton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Hampton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Hampton. Hampton lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Grif can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Hampton and Grif drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Hampton.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Hampton!
