Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ethen Diaz (ranked 5318 p4p, 5066 weight class) and Timmy Tung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timmy Tung is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ethen Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timmy Tung!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz content to control rather than advance.
Tung is looking to get back to full guard here but Diaz has managed to pass to side control instead.
Tung prevents Diaz from moving into mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to stand but Tung is controlling his head.

Tung is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tung is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tung wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Tung is looking to regain half guard here but Diaz keeps moving and retains side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tung sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
Tung slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Tung counters with a series of strikes. Diaz will be more careful next time no doubt.

Tung moves out of range as Diaz throws a body kick.
Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Tung counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethen Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Diaz tries to clinch up
and Tung connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tung keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tung is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Diaz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tung looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Diaz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tung is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Tung is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Diaz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tung!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ethen Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Tung really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Timmy Tung showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Diaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Tung escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Tung to keep the fight standing.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diaz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tung pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Diaz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Diaz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ethen Diaz.
I think Diaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
