Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Minor Cuevas (ranked 2878 p4p, 2801 weight class) and Oscar Bukele (ranked 340 p4p, 333 weight class). Cuevas has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Minor Cuevas could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Oscar Bukele's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Minor Cuevas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Oscar Bukele! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bukele with a lazy takedown attempt and Cuevas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Cuevas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Bukele gets a double leg takedown into Cuevas's guard. Bukele looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Bukele landing with the ground and pound. Bukele controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Bukele lands a couple of digs. Bukele won't allow Cuevas to get back to his feet. Cuevas is breathing heavily. Cuevas keeping moving, preventing Bukele from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bukele chips away with some ground and pound. Bukele drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bukele jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bukele is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cuevas wants to stand up but Bukele is controlling him. Bukele scoring with punches to the head and body. Cuevas keeping moving, preventing Bukele from controlling successfully. Bukele working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cuevas's head. Bukele with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Bukele has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bukele stands up over Cuevas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bukele thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bukele connects with a couple of short punches. Bukele is in close to Cuevas's body, working some short punches and elbows. Bukele trying to control the position from guard on top but Cuevas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cuevas wants to stand but Bukele is controlling the position. Cuevas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cuevas tries to get out of the position. Bukele working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cuevas's head. Bukele stands up from Cuevas's guard - Bukele perhaps looking for a knockout. Bukele gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cuevas counters with a straight right hand. Bukele shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Cuevas to counter with a crisp jab. Minor Cuevas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oscar Bukele. Bukele shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cuevas sprawls well. Cuevas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bukele gets slowly back to his feet. Nice uppercut lands for Cuevas. That snapped Bukele's head back.
Bukele fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cuevas sprawls well initially but Bukele persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bukele is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bukele wants to take a breather but Cuevas is having none of it. Bukele slips a nice elbow through Cuevas's hands, connecting with Cuevas's forehead. Bukele scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Bukele seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bukele moves nicely into side control. Bukele is chipping away with strikes.
Bukele grinds an elbow into Cuevas's temple. Cuevas is being controlled here. Bukele cracks Cuevas with a big elbow. Bukele taking a breather here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bukele lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Bukele is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Cuevas is trying to escape and Bukele transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Cuevas is forced to tap! Nice work there by Bukele! Very nice indeed!
