And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronaldo Gomes!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes throws a series of punches but Porfirigo moves out of range.
Gomes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Porfirigo.
Gomes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Porfirigo feinted with a counter takedown.
Porfirigo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomes's guard.
Porfirigo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gomes is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Porfirigo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gomes has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gomes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Porfirigo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Porfirigo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gomes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Porfirigo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Porfirigo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Porfirigo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The referee asks Porfirigo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Porfirigo prefers to stall for the moment though.
Gomes is looking to reverse the position.
Gomes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gomes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Porfirigo is trying to control the action in half guard but Gomes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gomes is looking for a sweep. Porfirigo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Porfirigo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Porfirigo wants to pass to mount but Gomes is defending the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
