Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Adrian Atkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Nickels!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nickels shoots in and drives through. Atkins sprawls well.
Nickels is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Atkins lands with an overhand left.

It looks like Jimmy Nickels has been cut.

Nickels shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Atkins's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Atkins is on top in guard.

Atkins engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Nickels keeping moving, preventing Atkins from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Atkins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Atkins wants to control from the top but Nickels keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nickels trying to control the position.
Nickels has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Atkins has passed into side control.
Atkins has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Nickels is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nickels is not content to let Atkins control the position.
Nickels is looking for a sweep.
Nickels stops Atkins from passing to mount.
Nickels is trying to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Atkins creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nickels sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Atkins advances nicely into full mount.
Atkins prevents Nickels from getting the reversal.

Atkins is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nickels can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Poor strikes thrown by Atkins there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Nickels wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Atkins.
Atkins controlling from the full mount.
Nickels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Atkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Atkins looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Atkins throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nickels because Atkins loaded up on that one.
Atkins throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Nickels has left one of his arms exposed and Atkins doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Nickels screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adrian Atkins!
