PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Cooper (ranked 2021 p4p, 2157 weight class) and Remington Knox (ranked 122 p4p, 131 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Matt Cooper has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Matt Cooper seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Knox misses the target.
Knox has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Cooper darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cooper performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've been hearing good reports from Cooper's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cooper looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Cooper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Knox doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cooper.

Cooper wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knox keeps working.
Knox avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cooper.
Knox really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cooper is trying to control. Knox wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cooper is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Knox is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Knox throws a sloppy head kick
and Knox takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Remington Knox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cooper looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

It looks like Matt Cooper has been cut.
Cooper misses with a looping left.
Knox doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cooper looks to land a right hand but Knox moved out of range.
Knox lands a nice looking kick to the body. Cooper takes a step back to recover.

Matt Cooper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cooper is breathing heavily.
Cooper moves away from the strike by Knox.
Knox misses with an attempted mid kick.

Cooper was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

and Knox counters with a nice right hand that sends Cooper toppling to the canvas! Cooper scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Knox finish him?!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Knox jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Oh Cooper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Are you kidding me?! Knox ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Cooper clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
