PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Swag Tape (ranked 4144 p4p, 4116 weight class) and Tommy Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Swag Tape!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Black!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tape tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Black paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Black gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tape passes Black's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Tape content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Tape sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Black defending well though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tape winds up and cracks Black with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tape has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Black blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tape.

Black is looking to improve his position.
Tape is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tape looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tape throws a strike but Black avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tape controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tape's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Tape postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Tape is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tape closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Black to the mat! Black manages to get full guard.
Tape throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Tape decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Black, up you get!

Tape has Black up against the cage in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Black gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tape.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Tape blocking some punches.
Tape jumps guard but Black stands there with Tape around his waist. Tape gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tape blocks an uppercut.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Black has a couple of punches blocked by Tape.
Black tries to break free but Tape pushes him back against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Swag Tape dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Tape throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Black was covering up waiting for the punch and Tape finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Tape controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tape pushing down on Black's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tape looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tape uses his free foot to push down on Black's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Black.
Black wants to hold on but Tape pushes him away.
Tape content just to control the position here.
Swag Tape overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tape landing punches.

Tape has control of Black's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Black regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Tape is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Black can do to turn this around?
Tape controlling the pace for now.
Black is breathing heavily.
Tape lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

It looks like Tommy Black has been cut.

Tape lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Black is rocked!
Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tape. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tape lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Black! Tape sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Black and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
