PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Isaiah King (ranked 1649 p4p, 2557 weight class) and Jerethan Treyold (ranked 144 p4p, 208 weight class). Jerethan Treyold will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Isaiah King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerethan Treyold!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Treyold looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
King fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Treyold throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
Treyold connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Treyold is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Treyold smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Treyold uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Treyold circles away.

Treyold has taken the fight to the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
King misses with a takedown attempt - Treyold sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isaiah King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King shoots in looking for a takedown but Treyold manages to keep the fight standing, pushing King's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
King on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Treyold. Treyold obviously looking to wear him down.

King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Treyold circles away.
King avoids the head kick by Treyold.
Nice takedown defense from Treyold. No joy for King on that attempt.

Treyold fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.

King drops down looking for an ankle pick but Treyold pulls his leg out and moves away.
Treyold throws a shot to the body.

Treyold has managed to clinch.

Treyold breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Treyold throws a combination. King tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Treyold circles away.

Treyold scores with a decent looking hook.
King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Treyold is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Treyold circles away and we're back to standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Treyold ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Treyold moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Treyold pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Treyold scores with a three punch combo!

King is rocked!

King shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Treyold napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Oh King is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
King is breathing heavily.

King tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
King seems to have got his legs back now.
Treyold wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Treyold tries to improve position but can't.

King working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Treyold is trying to improve his position.
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Treyold keeps working.
King passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Treyold!
King takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

King looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

King is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Treyold has managed to escape the submission attempt.
King looking to control and managing it successfully.
Treyold tries to hold on but King pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

King shoots for a takedown but Treyold saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Treyold is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Horrible takedown attempt by King or perhaps it was just good defense by Treyold, which made it look bad.
Treyold misses with a double jab

and King counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

King is working for a kimura but Treyold is defending it quite comfortably.
King definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Treyold is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Treyold wants to get back to his feet.
King is trying to control. Treyold wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

King content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Treyold kicks off King and gets to his feet.

Treyold digs a good body shot into King's ribs.
Jerethan Treyold is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

King closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Treyold did well to prevent King getting side control.
King looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
King is looking to take a break and control but Treyold is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
King is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Treyold is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Treyold is trying to stand up here but King is controlling him well.

King is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Treyold has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

King is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Treyold defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Treyold wants to sweep but King has passed to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Treyold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Treyold looking for a sweep but King has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
King prevents Treyold from getting the reversal.
King wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
King trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Treyold is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Treyold tries to hold on but King postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Isaiah King dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Treyold throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Treyold as he jumps to the side.
Treyold let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Treyold has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
King has his takedown stuffed
and Treyold counters with a straight right hand.
We've been informed that Treyold has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
King blocks a head kick by Treyold.
King drops down looking for a counter takedown but Treyold sprawls and moves away.
King shoots for a takedown but Treyold saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.

A head kick from Treyold lands but King takes it in his stride.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Treyold - that will leave a mark!
King avoids the head kick by Treyold.
King shoots in but no luck this time.
Treyold stalks King and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into King's face. King staggers backwards, shaken.
Treyold cracks King with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends King tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Treyold pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! King is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jerethan Treyold!
