PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Ramos (ranked 3600 p4p, 4174 weight class) and Kody Larson (ranked 422 p4p, 474 weight class). Kody Larson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pablo Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kody Larson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson wants to clinch up but Ramos keeps it at a distance.

Larson darts in and clinches Ramos up against the cage.
Ramos prevents a body shot from Larson.
The referee calls for Ramos to work.
Ramos tries to pull guard but Larson won't allow it.
Ramos misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Larson jumps guard and drags Ramos to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Larson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ramos trying to control but Larson is working from the bottom.

Larson has his foot on Ramos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ramos works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Larson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Larson is stalling here. Ramos is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Larson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ramos has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Larson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ramos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
