Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan David Franco (ranked 2060 p4p, 2074 weight class) and Ricardo Lima (ranked 249 p4p, 251 weight class). Franco comes to the ring accompanied by Bullet For My Valentine- Tears Don't Fall. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan David Franco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricardo Lima!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima dodges the punch combination from Franco.
Lima tries for a takedown but Franco sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lima.
Lima shoots in and drives through. Franco sprawls well.
Juan David Franco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Lima.

Lima shoots in and bounces Franco off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Lima showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Lima stops Franco from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lima is looking to work some ground and pound but Franco has wrist control.

It looks like Lima might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lima trying to mount his opponent but Franco defends it.
Lima throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lima looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Franco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lima on the ground.

Lima is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Franco is just riding it out for now. Lima eventually gives up the hold.
Lima is keen to just control but Franco is a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Franco is defending against the submission attempts here by Lima.

Lima is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lima slows the pace down in half guard.
Lima is keen to just control but Franco is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lima dives in and grabs Franco's left leg, looking for a takedown. Franco pushes down on Lima's head and hops out.

Lima shoots in and gets a takedown into Franco's guard.
Lima wants to control from the top but Franco keeps moving.
Franco wants to get back to his feet but Lima is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lima throws a big elbow that misses.

Lima thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lima is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Lima postures up in Franco's guard and throws a big left but Franco blocks it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardo Lima dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Franco scores with the left hand. Lima knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Ricardo Lima has been cut.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Franco throws a head kick but Lima moves out of range.
Franco walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lima checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Lima tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Lima walks forward, straight into a front kick from Franco.
Lima fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Franco avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lima.
Franco swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Franco throws a series of punches but Lima moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lima.

Lima tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Franco swivels and escapes.
Lima shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lima shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Franco as he jumps to the side.
Franco went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Franco drops Lima with a beautiful combination! Lima stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Franco is looking for the KO!

Lima is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Franco darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Lima's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Franco before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juan David Franco!
After winning the bout, Juan David Franco thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
