Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Semaj Schroeder (ranked 5654 p4p, 25421 weight class) and Mariusz Pudzianowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mariusz Pudzianowski has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Semaj Schroeder's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Semaj Schroeder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 16 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mariusz Pudzianowski! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pudzianowski tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Schroeder rushes Pudzianowski and presses him up against the cage. Pudzianowski putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Schroeder in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Pudzianowski gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Schroeder wants to get back to his feet but Pudzianowski passes into half guard.
Pudzianowski is looking to take a break and control but Schroeder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pudzianowski is working for a kimura but Schroeder is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pudzianowski with shots to the head and body - Schroeder looks very uncomfortable down there. Schroeder in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Schroeder tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pudzianowski defends well and Schroeder ends up having to push Pudzianowski into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Semaj Schroeder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schroeder gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Schroeder manages to break the clinch.
Schroeder tries to close the distance and clinch but Pudzianowski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Schroeder closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pudzianowski drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Schroeder gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Pudzianowski. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Schroeder keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pudzianowski's head. Pudzianowski should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Pudzianowski trying to keep a closed guard but Schroeder is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Schroeder gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Schroeder lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Mariusz Pudzianowski has been cut. Schroeder throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pudzianowski. Pudzianowski shoots for a double leg takedown but Schroeder sprawls well. He's pushed Pudzianowski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Schroeder keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Schroeder tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Pudzianowski manages to circle out of the way. Semaj Schroeder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mariusz Pudzianowski. Schroeder throws a nice looking combination but Pudzianowski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Schroeder connects with a nice looking jab.

Pudzianowski turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Schroeder tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Schroeder is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet. Schroeder dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Schroeder swinging wildly here.

The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schroeder. Schroeder sets himself, and Pudzianowski steps forward looking for the clinch! Schroeder avoids it this time. Schroeder swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pudzianowski is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Schroeder.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Schroeder or perhaps it was just good defense by Pudzianowski, which made it look bad. Schroeder feints and then cracks Pudzianowski's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pudzianowski down. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pudzianowski has eaten all the pies! Pudzianowski looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Schroeder tries to kick Pudzianowski off but Pudzianowski keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Schroeder tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pudzianowski manages to move to mount!
Schroeder really wants to buck Pudzianowski off and get back to his feet. Pudzianowski trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pudzianowski looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Pudzianowski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Pudzianowski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Schroeder is looking to escape. Pudzianowski lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Schroeder is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
