PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kryten Mechanoid (ranked 1515 p4p, 1565 weight class) and Devyn Howell (ranked 193 p4p, 202 weight class). Mechanoid comes to the cage accompanied by It's Cold Outside. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devyn Howell!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mechanoid slaps away a takedown attempt from Howell, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Mechanoid gets a double leg takedown into Howell's guard.

Howell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mechanoid is aware though and is defending well.

Mechanoid avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mechanoid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Howell is keeping the position for now.
Mechanoid slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mechanoid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Howell has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at New York Public Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Mechanoid seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Howell tries to get to full guard but Mechanoid has control of the leg.

Mechanoid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Howell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mechanoid wants to control from the top but Howell keeps moving.
Mechanoid looking to sit in guard and control but Howell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mechanoid is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mechanoid lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mechanoid is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mechanoid connects with a nice short shot to Howell's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kryten Mechanoid dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Howell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mechanoid but Mechanoid pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mechanoid's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mechanoid is pushing down on Howell's leg trying to pass to half guard. Howell is fighting to maintain full guard but Mechanoid has managed to sneak the leg through.

Howell is concentrating on defense, preventing Mechanoid from advancing position.
Howell is looking to control Mechanoid's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Howell avoid being mounted?
Mechanoid looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mechanoid winds up and cracks Howell with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Howell tries to roll over but Mechanoid keeps him under control.
Mechanoid passes the guard and advances to mount!
Mechanoid scoring with strikes but Howell is staying in there.
Mechanoid landing strikes from the mount and Howell is in trouble!
Howell is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mechanoid postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Howell badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Mechanoid around the waist but Mechanoid pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Mechanoid is the winner by TKO! Mechanoid jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
