Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jordan Ruiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jorge!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorge tries to clinch but Ruiz is having none of it.
Ruiz is looking to counter with head kicks.
Jorge looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jorge drives through and clinches with Ruiz against the cage.
Ruiz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jorge moves in looking to clinch but Ruiz pushes him off.
Jorge doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ruiz counters with a nice uppercut.
Jorge tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Ruiz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jorge shoots in looking for a takedown. Ruiz tries to sprawl out of it but Jorge keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ruiz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jorge chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ruiz can pounce on him.
Ruiz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ruiz throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Ruiz keeps Jorge at a distance using the push kick.
Ruiz scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Jon Jorge has been cut.
Ruiz throws a head kick that Jorge semi-blocks.
Jordan Ruiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ruiz lands a head kick. Jorge smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jorge is rocked!
Ruiz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jorge is still on wobbly legs! Can Ruiz finish him?
Ruiz scores with a hook to the body.
Ruiz manages to break the clinch.
Jorge on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jorge tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The fighters circle, before Ruiz throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Jorge's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Ruiz lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Jordan Ruiz!
In defeat, Jon Jorge stepped up to the mic, saying 'it happens'.
