PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tarik Oren (ranked 1869 p4p, 1284 weight class) and Surkho Dratchev (ranked 236 p4p, 157 weight class). Oren's entrance music is La Caution - Thé à la Menthe. A fine choice. Dratchev has chosen Schweine by Glukoza Nostra as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tarik Oren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Surkho Dratchev!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oren steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dratchev.
Nice body kick from Oren.
Oren chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Oren misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oren shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Oren throws a lazy right hand but Dratchev sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A head kick misses from Dratchev.
Oren looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Oren thumps Dratchev with a low kick.
Oren lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A head kick misses from Oren.
A swing and a miss from Dratchev.

Dratchev takes the fight into the clinch.
Dratchev drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Oren digs a right hand into Dratchev's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dratchev's gas tank.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oren lands a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Oren.
Dratchev's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Oren manages to break the clinch.
Oren throws a looping overhand right but Dratchev ducks down to avoid it.
Dratchev checks the leg kick.
Dratchev with the counter takedown but Oren avoids it easily.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Dratchev checks a leg kick.

Dratchev lands a high kick to the side of Oren's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Dratchev dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Tarik Oren has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Oren looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dratchev is one step ahead there.
Dratchev trying to control the position from guard on top but Oren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oren wants to stand but Dratchev is controlling the position.
Oren tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Oren is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dratchev preventing the sweep.
Dratchev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Oren looking to control.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Dratchev pushes down on Oren's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Well, if Dratchev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dratchev passes to side control.
An elbow from Dratchev crashes against the mat.

Dratchev looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dratchev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oren keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Oren's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Oren is looking to regain half guard here but Dratchev keeps moving and retains side control.
Dratchev works to advance to full mount. Oren defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Dratchev throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Oren because Dratchev loaded up on that one.
Oren is squirming around, avoiding Dratchev's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dratchev lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oren avoids a series of strikes thrown by Dratchev.
Dratchev throwing strikes here but Oren is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Dratchev is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Dratchev sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Oren is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Dratchev has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Oren is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Surkho Dratchev!
An out of breath Surkho Dratchev thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Tarik Oren had this to say: 'Congrats, bro. I'm go back stronger!'.
