Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raja Guru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terrell Yates!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yates misses with a low kick as Guru jumps back.
Guru lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Yates fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Guru.
Yates misses with a few strikes there.
Guru avoids a punch combination nicely.
Guru wants to slow Yates down by chopping away at his legs.
Guru throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Guru. Yates shrugs it off though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yates swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

As Guru backs off Yates throws a huge counter combo but Guru manages to avoid it all.
Guru fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Yates checks it well.

Despite the aggression on Yates's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Terrell Yates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yates tries to bum rush Guru with a series of wild strikes but Guru uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Guru tried to counter with a leg kick but Yates avoided it.
Guru misses with a looping left.

Yates with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Guru to score with a decent uppercut.

A quick step to the side and Guru tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Yates has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Guru finds it's way round the side to connect with Yates's head.

Yates is still on wobbly legs! Can Guru finish him?
Yates misses with a low kick.
Yates seems to have recovered his senses.
Guru looks for the body kick but Yates saw that one coming.
Yates throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Guru counters with a straight right hand.
Yates blocks the body kick.

Guru lands a big right hand that sends Yates crashing to the mat! Guru stays standing though and waves Yates back to his feet!

A little feinted left hand from Guru on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Guru cracks Yates with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Guru has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Yates to stand back up!

Guru is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Yates.
Yates unleashes a big counter combination but Guru bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Guru misses with a wild body shot.
Yates uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Guru.
Yates stalks Guru and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Guru's face. Guru staggers backwards, shaken.
Guru keeps Yates at a distance using the push kick.
Guru scores with a jab to the body.

Guru drops Yates with a beautiful combination! Yates stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Guru is looking for the KO!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Guru lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Yates has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Yates and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
We've been told by Guru's head coaches at Casa Steel that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Guru looks to land a left hand but Yates moved out of range nicely.
Guru tries to land a front kick but Yates steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Guru sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Guru throws a looping overhand right but Yates ducks down to avoid it.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Yates crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Guru - the referee stops the clock and Yates gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Guru. Yates manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Guru does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Yates throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Yates takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No joy there for Yates, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Guru swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Yates is breathing heavily.
Yates drops his hands momentarily and Guru takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Guru feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Yates sprawling to the canvas! Yates rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Guru finish him?!
Guru throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Guru lands a brutal uppercut that launches Yates off his feet! Yates tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
