PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Davis Chang (ranked 3181 p4p, 25334 weight class) and Brennan Clarke (ranked 356 p4p, 581 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davis Chang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brennan Clarke!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chang swats away the attempt to clinch by Clarke.
Chang goes for a double leg but Clarke avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Clarke continues to drive forward.
Clarke lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Chang.

Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chang has his takedown stuffed
and Clarke counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Chang thinking.
Clarke looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Clarke fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chang, pushing him back against the cage.
A body shot lands from Clarke.
Chang tries to circle away but Clarke has him pinned against the cage.
Chang has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Clarke pushes Chang back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clarke takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Chang takes one on the button.

Chang shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Clarke is trying to defend but Chang finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Clarke is looking to control Chang's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clarke avoid being mounted?

Clarke moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Chang trying to control but Clarke is working from the bottom.
Clarke wants to sweep but no luck.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clarke can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chang sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chang has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davis Chang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Clarke fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Chang shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Clarke sprawls well. Clarke wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chang gets slowly back to his feet.
Clarke uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chang has time to react.

Clarke thuds a left hand into Chang's body.
Clarke scores with a body shot.
Clarke stuffs the takedown.
A punch combination from Clarke misses.

Clarke clinches.
Clarke stalling in the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Clarke.
Clarke lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Clarke softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Clarke lands a nice shot to the body.

Clarke breaks from the clinch.
Chang has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Clarke slaps away a takedown attempt from Chang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A lazy left from Clarke finds it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Clarke lands a slapping body shot.
Chang doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Clarke counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Chang is breathing heavily.
Clarke lands a slapping body shot.
Clarke throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Clarke rushes Chang and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Clarke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chang.
Clarke throws a one two combo.
Chang shoots for a double leg takedown but Clarke sprawls well. He's pushed Chang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Chang doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Clarke throws a series of strikes that have Chang backpedaling.
Chang takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Chang is rocked!
Clarke cracks Chang with a good jab.
Oh Chang is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Clarke scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chang doesn't seem bothered though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brennan Clarke dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Clarke takes the fight into the clinch.
Chang seems to have got his legs back now.
Clarke digs a right hand underneath Chang's ribcage. Chang let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Clarke lands a body punch in the clinch.
Clarke stalling in the clinch.
Clarke works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Clarke breaks from the clinch.
Clarke lands a body shot.
Clarke comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clarke connects with a right hand. Chang shakes it off.
Chang looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clarke is fending him off so far but Chang persists. Nope, Clarke circles away and we're back to standing.
Davis Chang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Clarke scores with a one two! Chang had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Clarke drops Chang with a beautiful combination! Chang stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Clarke is looking for the KO!

Chang is rocked!

Clarke clinches up with Chang and pushes him back against the cage.
Oh Chang is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chang is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Clarke lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Brennan Clarke seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Clarke presses Chang against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Chang seems to have got his legs back now.

Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Clarke scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Chang shoots for a takedown but Clarke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Clarke ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Clarke misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Clarke scores with a jab to the jaw.
Chang goes for a double leg but Clarke avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Clarke continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davis Chang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice body punch from Clarke - that landed with a thud.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oooooh!!! Clarke has knocked Chang down with a huge combo! Clarke steps away and waves a wobbly Chang back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Clarke works Chang's body with a nice hook.
Davis Chang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clarke is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Chang hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Brennan Clarke!
