And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 8 losses; Bruno Fortuna! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Fortuna shoots in but Hunter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hunter shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hunter (2) vs (0) Fortuna Hunter tries to pass to full mount but Fortuna defends it. Hunter is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fortuna is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fortuna is trying to control but Hunter manages to pass to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter controlling from the full mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hunter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Fortuna has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fortuna can do anything to dispel that myth. Hunter controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fortuna tries to hold on but Hunter postures up. Fortuna tries to reverse the position but Hunter maintains control. Hunter is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Fortuna has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fortuna for as long as he can get away with. Fortuna defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hunter. Hunter with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hunter wants to take Fortuna's back but he can't do it this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter has control of Fortuna's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fortuna regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hunter jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Fortuna manages to avoid the submission attempt. Fortuna is looking for a sweep. Hunter controls the position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Fortuna is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hunter has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fortuna is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hunter yanks on the arm and Fortuna is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hunter.
