And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Roman Francis! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Globe tries to sprawl but Francis drives through with a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Globe (0) vs (2) Francis Globe looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Globe looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Francis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Globe looking for submissions off his back. Globe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Francis is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Globe has managed to free his arm - good work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Globe controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Globe is defending against the submission attempts here by Francis.
That's one minute gone in the round. Francis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Globe sees it coming and defends easily. Globe wants to get back to full guard. Globe makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Globe. Francis tries to free his leg and advance position but Globe is retaining full guard. Globe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Francis's guard. Score +3 for passing guard: Globe (5) vs (2) Francis Francis is looking to regain half guard here but Globe keeps moving and retains side control. Globe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Francis keeps working. Francis is looking to reverse the position. Francis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Francis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Globe off and has taken his back! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Globe (7) vs (6) Francis Francis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Globe is aware though and is defending well. Francis keeping moving, preventing Globe from controlling successfully. Francis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Globe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Globe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Francis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Globe escapes and throws Francis's legs to the side, diving into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Globe (10) vs (6) Francis Globe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Francis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Francis tries to bench press Globe off him but Globe keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Globe is looking to take a break and control but Francis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Francis is looking to reverse the position. Francis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Globe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Globe has knee on belly and moves into mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Globe (12) vs (6) Francis Globe jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Francis manages to avoid the submission attempt. Francis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Globe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Globe wants to control but Francis is keeping him busy. Globe wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Francis, who protects the arm well.

Globe is trying to get an arm triangle but Francis is defending well. Francis tries to improve position but can't. Globe advances to full mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Globe (14) vs (6) Francis Francis sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Globe trying to control the pace. Globe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Francis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Globe pulls his head out easily. Francis looking for submissions off his back. Globe uses his free foot to push down on Francis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Francis. Score +3 for passing guard: Globe (17) vs (6) Francis Francis working to try and regain half guard.
Globe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Globe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Francis is looking to escape.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Francis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Globe trying to control but Francis is having none of it. Globe is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Francis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Globe is really struggling to control Francis but he's trying to hold on to the position. Francis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Francis wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Score +3 for taking back: Globe (20) vs (6) Francis Globe has his arm under Francis's chin here. Game over son! Globe squeezes tightly and Francis is forced to tap out!
