And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 3 losses; Josh Aldarisio! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and William Peck.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Aldarisio shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Aldarisio fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ngannou leaves Aldarisio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ngannou tries to counter by clinching up but Aldarisio breaks away and moves out of range. Francisco Ngannou has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Aldarisio. Aldarisio has his takedown stuffed and Ngannou counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ngannou. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ngannou (2) vs (0) Aldarisio Ngannou stands and throws Aldarisio's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Ngannou (5) vs (0) Aldarisio Ngannou wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aldarisio, who protects the arm well. Aldarisio tries to bench press Ngannou off him but Ngannou keeps the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ngannou is trying to get an arm triangle but Aldarisio is defending well. Aldarisio tries to buck Ngannou off but Ngannou is having none of it. Ngannou is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aldarisio knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Ngannou passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Aldarisio! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aldarisio is trying to break free.
Ngannou seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Aldarisio keeps trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ngannou has his arm under Aldarisio's chin here. Game over son! Ngannou squeezes tightly and Aldarisio is forced to tap out!
