This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Roman Francis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 7 losses; Paul Hunter! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Horrible takedown attempt by Francis or perhaps it was just good defense by Hunter, which made it look bad. Hunter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Francis is fending him off so far but Hunter persists. Nope, Francis circles away and we're back to standing. Hunter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Francis's waist but Francis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hunter off to one side. Francis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hunter tries to avoid it but Francis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hunter to the ground. Hunter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hunter with the counter takedown but Francis avoids it easily. Hunter tries for a takedown but Francis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Roman Francis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Hunter. Hunter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Francis avoids it really well and circles away. Hunter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Francis's guard. Francis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Francis has an active guard here but Hunter has managed to pass into half guard.

Francis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Francis looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Francis looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hunter uses his free foot to push down on Francis's thigh. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Francis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hunter on the ground. Francis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hunter pulls his head out easily. Hunter moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Francis. Score +3 for passing guard: Francis (0) vs (11) Hunter Francis is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Gumburcules Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hunter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Francis tries to buck Hunter off but Hunter is having none of it. Francis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hunter off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Francis (4) vs (11) Hunter Francis seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Hunter's chin but Hunter turns very nicely into Francis's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Hunter.

Francis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hunter has his hands clasped together but Francis extends and breaks Hunter's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Francis.
