And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 23 wins and 15 losses; Dan Macker! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. The fight moves into the clinch position. Chai stops a takedown attempt from Macker.
Macker drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chai pulls his leg out and moves away.
Macker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Macker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Chai tries to bench press Macker off him but Macker keeps the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You can see the frustration on Chai's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Macker is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Chai's shoulder. That is not cool.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chai is not content to let Macker control the position. Chai is positioning himself well to prevent Macker advancing to mount. Macker is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chai preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Chai is refusing to be controlled, as Macker sits in half guard. Chai gets full guard. Chai looking to control.

He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Macker wants to control from the top but Chai keeps moving. Macker postures up.

Chai prevents Macker from getting a body triangle. A bit of a pause in the action here. Macker controlling the positon. You can see the frustration on Chai's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Chai is working hard here to advance position. Chai is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Chai just trying to survive but Macker is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Chai looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Macker is hanging on to Chai's back as he tries to escape.

Macker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chai haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Macker controls the action. Chai looking very determined here, making life difficult for Macker.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Macker looking for the choke from the back. Macker is not going to allow Chai to sit and survive in this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Macker wins on points by 11 to 2. A relieved looking Dan Macker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
