PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khunkom Sitsongrit (ranked 4560 p4p, 5164 weight class) and Delroy Rhodes (ranked 434 p4p, 470 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Delroy Rhodes!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Sitsongrit checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Rhodes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rhodes scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sitsongrit doesn't seem bothered though.
Sitsongrit is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sitsongrit fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Rhodes tries to clinch there but Sitsongrit circles away.
Rhodes throws a leg kick but Sitsongrit checks it.
Sitsongrit looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rhodes clinches up with Sitsongrit and pushes him back against the cage.
Rhodes can't break the clinch.
Sitsongrit throws a punch but it's blocked by Rhodes.

Sitsongrit throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Sitsongrit swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sitsongrit keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rhodes's efforts to push away.

Rhodes is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rhodes tries to break the clinch but Sitsongrit is controlling the position.
Sitsongrit throws a head punch that misses.

Rhodes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Sitsongrit counters with a right hand that sends Rhodes tumbling to the canvas! Can Sitsongrit finish him? He dives into Rhodes's guard looking to do just that!

Rhodes is rocked!
Rhodes wants to stand and escape but Sitsongrit is having none of it.
Rhodes is still in real trouble! Can Sitsongrit finish him?
Sitsongrit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rhodes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rhodes seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sitsongrit seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sitsongrit trying to control the position from guard on top but Rhodes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rhodes is looking to stand up but Sitsongrit isn't so interested in that idea.

Sitsongrit knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rhodes on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rhodes drops his hands momentarily and Sitsongrit takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Sitsongrit throws a body punch but Rhodes moves out of range.

Sitsongrit throwing a counter right hand but Rhodes manages to avoid it.
Rhodes on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Sitsongrit. Sitsongrit obviously looking to wear him down.
Sitsongrit bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Sitsongrit misses the target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Sitsongrit.
Rhodes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sitsongrit connects with an inside leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Rhodes. Those never looked like landing.
Sitsongrit appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Sitsongrit lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Sitsongrit throws a jab when Rhodes was well out of range.
A low kick from Rhodes is predictable there
and Sitsongrit makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Rhodes closes the distance but Sitsongrit moves to the side

and Rhodes is countered with a crisp right hand from Sitsongrit that sends him to the canvas! Sitsongrit follows him to the mat into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee asks Sitsongrit politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sitsongrit prefers to stall for the moment though.
Rhodes wants to get back to his feet but Sitsongrit drags him back down.
Rhodes stops Sitsongrit from passing to mount.
Rhodes is pushing Sitsongrit's head away, looking to escape. Sitsongrit manages to hold on to the position though.
Sitsongrit trying to control the position but Rhodes is working away.
Sitsongrit wants to stand but Rhodes is controlling his arm.

Rhodes throws Sitsongrit to one side and escapes!
Rhodes tries a low kick but Sitsongrit avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Khunkom Sitsongrit dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Sitsongrit throws a looping overhand right but Rhodes ducks down to avoid it.
Rhodes throws a leg kick
and Sitsongrit counters with a nice low kick that buckles Rhodes's knee momentarily.
Sitsongrit misses with a head kick.
Rhodes was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Sitsongrit tries a head kick but it misses.
Rhodes lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Sitsongrit jabs Rhodes right on the nose. Rhodes blinks but takes it well.
Khunkom Sitsongrit is winning the standup battle so far.
Sitsongrit connects with a body shot that sends Rhodes's belly button to the back.

Rhodes tries to bum rush Sitsongrit with a series of wild strikes but Sitsongrit uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sitsongrit throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sitsongrit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rhodes can do to turn this around?

It appears Sitsongrit was looking to counter with a kick there.

Sitsongrit tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rhodes was well out of range. Poor timing from Sitsongrit.
Rhodes lands with a nice body punch.
Rhodes sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Sitsongrit lands a jab to the head.

Sitsongrit explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Sitsongrit avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rhodes walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sitsongrit.
Sitsongrit digs a good hook to Rhodes's body.
Sitsongrit throws the left hand but Rhodes avoids the punch easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rhodes is looking to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Sitsongrit on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Sitsongrit with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Rhodes misses with a double jab.
Sitsongrit scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A clash of legs there as Sitsongrit blocks the low kick.

Sitsongrit steps in with a hook that catches Rhodes right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Sitsongrit follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Rhodes looks absolutely devastated.
