Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randy Knight (ranked 1982 p4p, 2987 weight class) and Florent Periot (ranked 175 p4p, 241 weight class). Florent Periot told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Florent Periot!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Periot counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Knight.

and Periot counters with a nice body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Knight. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Periot lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Knight backs up against the cage.

Knight stands up over Periot, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Periot flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Periot is staying active underneath Knight, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've been hearing that Knight has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Knight is on top in guard.

Periot must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Periot throws an elbow that misses. Knight uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Periot's guard. Nice move by Knight!
Knight makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Periot escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Knight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A big shot lands for Knight! That's hurt Periot! Will he recover? Knight fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Randy Knight tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
