Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 123 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 116 - 26 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Fighter A throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fighter B's waist but Fighter B gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fighter A off to one side. Fighter B follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Fighter B shoots in for a double leg but Fighter A sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A slapping body kick lands there for Fighter A. Fighter A fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Fighter B counters with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Fighter B shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter A looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fighter B is one step ahead there. Fighter B sitting in guard, not really doing much. It looks like Fighter B might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fighter B accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Fighter B engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Fighter A looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter A pushes Fighter B away with a front kick. Fighter A throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fighter B tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fighter A is in Fighter B's guard. Fighter B controlling Fighter A's posture. Fighter A throws a big elbow that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter B keeping moving, preventing Fighter A from controlling successfully. Fighter B looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Fighter B is controlling Fighter A's posture. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Xxx Xxx dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Fighter B shoots for a double leg takedown but Fighter A sprawls well. He's pushed Fighter B's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fighter A quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Fighter B shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fighter A defends it nicely. A quick step to the side and Fighter A tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Fighter A enables Fighter B to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fighter A manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter A can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fighter B controls the pace. Fighter B is continuing to stall. Fighter B stopping the sweep attempt from Fighter A.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Fighter A wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Fighter B slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter B stuffs the takedown. Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well. Fighter A drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Fighter B wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Fighter A throwing strikes from guard but Fighter B blocks nicely. Fighter B pulls Fighter A in close to his closed guard and prevents Fighter A from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter A postures up in Fighter B's guard and throws a big left but Fighter B blocks it. Fighter B seems keen to control Fighter A's posture. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Xxx Xxx will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Fighter A shoots in looking for a takedown. Fighter B tries to sprawl out of it but Fighter A keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fighter B manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fighter B throws a counter combo. Fighter A feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B controlling the position. Fighter A scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Fighter B is controlling Fighter A's posture. Fighter A distracts Fighter B with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Fighter B has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Fighter A has passed into side control.
Xxx Xxx overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Fighter A sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fighter B is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fighter B is working to avoid the ground and pound but Fighter A connects with a decent elbow. Fighter B is trying to control Fighter A's posture but Fighter A avoids it. Fighter B controls the position for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fighter B can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter B takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fighter A working the ground and pound from side control. Fighter B is looking to reverse the position. Fighter A working away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fighter B can do anything to dispel that myth. Fighter A working the ground and pound but Fighter B is defending the strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fighter B defending against the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter A working the body and head with strikes. Fighter A working the ground and pound but Fighter B is defending the strikes. Fighter B tries to bench press Fighter A off him but Fighter A keeps the position. Fighter A working the ground and pound but Fighter B is defending the strikes. Xxx Xxx has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Xxx Xxx is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Fighter A laying and praying for a moment but Fighter B takes advantage and regains half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fighter A throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Xxx Xxx showed his dominance in that final round. Well Fighter A has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
