Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Lilke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lilke darts in and clinches Powers up against the ropes. Lilke is trying to trip Powers. He has hold of a leg but Powers is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lilke persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Powers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lilke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Powers keeping full guard, as Lilke tries to pass. Lilke landing some decent shots from guard. Lilke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Powers is trying to keep Lilke in close.
Powers had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lilke is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Powers Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lilke's back instead. Powers keeps control of the position easily here as Lilke tries to buck him off.
Lilke tries to escape but Powers has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers is trying to stick to Lilke's back but Lilke is turning into Powers. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Powers's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lilke. Lilke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powers swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Powers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Powers pulls Lilke in close to prevent any damage. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lilke shoots in for a takedown but Powers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Powers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Lilke counters with a shoot takedown. Powers fights it but they end up in guard. Lilke slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Powers wants to control the position but Lilke says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lilke not landing any meaningful shots this time. Powers is trying to control but can't.

He's now in the guard on the top. Lilke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lilke controls from within his opponent's guard.
