PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimar Kinkead (ranked 926 p4p, 1539 weight class) and Grga Chvarak (ranked 125 p4p, 198 weight class). Kinkead comes to the cage accompanied by No Sunshine. Grga Chvarak will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimar Kinkead!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Grga Chvarak!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kinkead gets a double leg takedown into Chvarak's guard.

Chvarak seems keen to control Kinkead's posture.

Kinkead slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kinkead wants to control from the top but Chvarak keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chvarak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Chvarak uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kinkead.
Chvarak displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kinkead.

Chvarak stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chvarak wants it to stay on the feet.

Chvarak ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Chvarak clobbers Kinkead with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Chvarak slaps away a takedown attempt from Kinkead, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Chvarak is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

It seemed like Chvarak was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Chvarak keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kinkead throws an overhand right that lands on Chvarak's shoulder, as Chvarak tries to avoid the shot.
Kinkead darts in looking for a takedown but Chvarak gets double underhooks and turns Kinkead into the cage.

Kinkead is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kinkead dives in for a single leg takedown but Chvarak sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Kinkead had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chvarak defends it easily.
Chvarak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kinkead. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chvarak wants to stand and escape but instead Kinkead has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kinkead drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chvarak looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chvarak looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chvarak!

Kinkead manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Chvarak keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Chvarak misses with some punches.
Chvarak has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chvarak is trying to force a seperation but Kinkead has the dominant position.
Kinkead is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Chvarak to keep the fight standing.
Chvarak lands a nice uppercut.

Chvarak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Chvarak is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Jimar Kinkead seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kinkead feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

I've got Chvarak winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
