Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Sokolov (ranked 1996 p4p, 3839 weight class) and Paulie Gualtieri (ranked 254 p4p, 410 weight class). Paulie Gualtieri will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sergei Sokolov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paulie Gualtieri!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gualtieri paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gualtieri throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sokolov tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Gualtieri manages to circle out of the way.
Gualtieri with a hook.
Sokolov fails with a takedown attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gualtieri! But no joy.
Sokolov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gualtieri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sokolov somewhat.
Gualtieri connects with a right hand. Sokolov shakes it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gualtieri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fighters circling - Gualtieri throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sokolov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gualtieri tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Sokolov manages to move to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sokolov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Sokolov has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Sokolov trying to control but Gualtieri is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sokolov fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Sokolov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Sokolov avoids the attempt from Gualtieri to control.
Sokolov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sokolov scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Gualtieri is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sokolov postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Gualtieri in real trouble here! The ref calls for Gualtieri to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergei Sokolov!
