PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aljosa Medeiros (ranked 1142 p4p, 2158 weight class) and Hot Water (ranked 126 p4p, 217 weight class). Medeiros comes to the cage accompanied by Sidequest - Chime. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hot Water was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Aljosa Medeiros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hot Water!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Medeiros.
Medeiros takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Water looks to land a left hand but Medeiros moved out of range nicely.
Water lands a jab.
Water keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Medeiros shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Water as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Medeiros throws a body shot but no joy.
Water throws out a counter right but Medeiros avoids it with no problem.

Medeiros lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Medeiros darts in looking for a takedown but Water gets double underhooks and turns Medeiros into the cage.

Water escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Water takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Medeiros tries to score a power double leg takedown but Water sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Medeiros somewhat.
Water throws out a counter right but Medeiros avoids it with no problem.

Medeiros shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Water napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Water is not content to let Medeiros control the position.

Medeiros is looking to take a break and control but Water is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Medeiros grinds an elbow into Water's temple.
Water is not content to let Medeiros control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Medeiros wants to control but Water is keeping him busy.
Medeiros is putting a hurting on Water here, landing some big shots from side control.
Medeiros throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Water works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Water has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Medeiros is working away from the top position though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Water takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Medeiros bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Medeiros fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Water on the side of the head.

Medeiros throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Water was covering up waiting for the punch and Medeiros finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Medeiros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Water swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Medeiros has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Medeiros postures up in Water's guard and throws a big left but Water blocks it.
Medeiros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Water swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Water wants to sweep but no luck.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Medeiros throws a body punch but Water moves out of range.
Medeiros shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Water pinned against the cage. Water gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Medeiros throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Water's waist but Water gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Medeiros off to one side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Water! But no joy.
Medeiros goes for a double leg but Water avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Water continues to drive forward.
We've been informed that Water has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Water looks up at the clock. Bad move! Medeiros lands a right hand from hell, dropping Water. Medeiros pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
