Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tevin Shay (ranked 124 p4p, 545 weight class) and Grant Hyde (ranked 14 p4p, 72 weight class). Hyde has chosen Darkside-Neoni as his entrance music. Grant Hyde has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tevin Shay!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grant Hyde!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shay throws a jab when Hyde was well out of range.
Hyde avoids the body shot from Shay.
Hyde tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shay was well out of range. Poor timing from Hyde.
Both fighters circling a little - Hyde finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Shay cracks Hyde with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Shay scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Shay wants to control but Hyde is keeping him busy.
Hyde really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shay tries to advance to mount but can't.
Hyde dodges the ground and pound from Shay.
Hyde is pushing Shay's head away, looking to escape. Shay manages to hold on to the position though.

Shay lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hyde is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
We've been hearing that Shay has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Shay takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hyde wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Shay.

Shay sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Hyde is bucking up trying to escape but Shay cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Shay cracks Hyde with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Shay takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Hyde throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shay sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hyde swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shay misses with a straight right.
Hyde appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Hyde feints and then cracks Shay's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shay down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A quick step to the side and Shay tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Shay throws a hook to the side of Hyde's head but Hyde sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shay fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hyde looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shay ducks right into an uppercut from Hyde.
Shay looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A little jabbing left from Hyde on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hyde looks to throw the jab but Shay is out of range.
Shay appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hyde uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shay has time to react.

Hyde throws the left hand but Shay avoids the punch easily.
Hyde misses with a hook. Shay ducked under it nicely.
Shay works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Shay looks to land a combination. Hyde sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Shay throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hyde can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shay keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hyde is looking to escape.
Shay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hyde defends it well.

Shay throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hyde tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shay is in Hyde's guard.
Shay throws a strike but Hyde rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Shay is pulling down on Hyde's head to control his posture.
Hyde wants to get up but he can't break Shay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Shay is looking for a triangle but Hyde pushes his legs off easily.
Shay is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hyde has his hands clasped together but Shay extends and breaks Hyde's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Shay.
