PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rock Lee (ranked 1525 p4p, 2078 weight class) and Phillip Coles (ranked 193 p4p, 257 weight class). Coles has chosen HonestKey- Pass as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Coles is out of range.
Coles keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Coles misses with a looping right.
Coles misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lee.
Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coles moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lee looks to score with a jab to the body but Coles is just out of range.
Coles looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Lee throws a wild body kick that Coles sees coming a mile off.
Coles looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coles scores with the left hand. Lee knows he should have avoided that one.
Lee moves out of range as Coles strikes.

Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Coles.

Coles misses the shot to the body.
Coles lands a nice looking body shot.
Coles lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Coles lands a really nice looking cross but Lee seems unphased.
Lee lands a glancing blow to the side of Coles's head.

It looks like Phillip Coles has been cut.
Coles is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lee.
Lee connects with an inside leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Coles. Those never looked like landing.

and Coles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Lee rushes Coles and presses him up against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Coles.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lee goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Coles has Lee pressed against the cage.

Lee gets control of Coles's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Coles looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee wants to sweep but no luck.

Lee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Coles is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lee has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Coles should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Lee has tightened it up now! Coles should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
