PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otto Stollar (ranked 2758 p4p, 2588 weight class) and Abdulrashid Sadulaev (ranked 331 p4p, 306 weight class). The key to victory for Otto Stollar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Otto Stollar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Abdulrashid Sadulaev!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stollar cracks Sadulaev with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Sadulaev shoots for a double leg takedown but Stollar sprawls well. He's pushed Sadulaev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Stollar gets a clinch.
Stollar lands a nice shot to the body.
Stollar takes a shot to the head.

Sadulaev has Stollar pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sadulaev pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stollar tumbling to the mat - Sadulaev dives into Stollar's guard.

Stollar scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sadulaev takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sadulaev has a takedown stuffed.
Sadulaev shoots and misses
and Stollar counters with a nice uppercut.
Otto Stollar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abdulrashid Sadulaev.

Stollar bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Sadulaev! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Stollar shoots in for a double leg but Sadulaev sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sadulaev feints the counter takedown.
Stollar throws a head kick that misses

and Sadulaev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Stollar pushes Sadulaev off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Stollar moves in looking to clinch but Sadulaev pushes him off.
Nice takedown defense from Sadulaev. No joy for Stollar on that attempt.

and Sadulaev counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stollar lands with a hook. Sadulaev tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stollar misses with a jab, cross combination.

Stollar scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Otto Stollar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stollar darts in and clinches Sadulaev up against the cage.

Sadulaev is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Stollar is defending well.
Stollar wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sadulaev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Stollar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sadulaev dives in and grabs Stollar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stollar pushes down on Sadulaev's head and hops out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Stollar gets tackled into the cage by Sadulaev. Sadulaev maintains the clinch.

Stollar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sadulaev changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stollar fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Stollar lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Stollar looks to land a combination but Sadulaev avoids it well.

Sadulaev dives in and grabs Stollar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stollar pushes down on Sadulaev's head and hops out.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stollar drops Sadulaev with a right and a left! Stollar comes rushing in but Sadulaev regains his composure and manages to keep Stollar in guard.

Stollar moves into the clinch.

Stollar has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sadulaev uses from the top position.
Sadulaev works over Stollar with some ground and pound from guard.
Stollar has momentary wrist control but Sadulaev slips an elbow through the middle.
Sadulaev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stollar's head.

Stollar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sadulaev defends well.

Stollar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sadulaev can do to turn this around?
Sadulaev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sadulaev.
Sadulaev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stollar.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stollar doesn't manage to clinch there - Sadulaev circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Otto Stollar will probably get the nod.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Otto Stollar.
Well Stollar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
