PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Meuniex (ranked 5377 p4p, 3197 weight class) and Malakai Rios (ranked 468 p4p, 324 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anthony Meuniex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Malakai Rios!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meuniex throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Rios rushes Meuniex and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rios pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rios throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Meuniex was covering up waiting for the punch and Rios finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Meuniex is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rios dives into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meuniex knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rios on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rios misses with the ground and pound.
Rios moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Rios has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Meuniex!

Rios is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Meuniex is surviving well by controlling Rios's body position as best he can.

Rios is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Rios extends the arm and Meuniex is forced to tap!
