Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Knox (ranked 2182 p4p, 1803 weight class) and Jorg Wegner (ranked 255 p4p, 226 weight class). Knox comes to the cage accompanied by "Hey Man Nice Shot" Filter. On his way into the cage it seems that John Knox has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Knox seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Knox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jorg Wegner! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knox misses with a hook. Knox missing with a left hand there. Wegner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Wegner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wegner throwing shots but Knox is blocking nicely. Knox on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Wegner wants to pass to mount but Knox is defending the position. Wegner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Wegner working the head and body with strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knox wants to control but Wegner is keeping busy.
Knox tries to get to full guard but Wegner has control of the leg. Knox blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wegner. Knox is not content to let Wegner control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Knox gets full guard. Wegner throwing strikes but missing. Knox has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Knox looking to control.
Knox preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Wegner stopping the sweep attempt from Knox. Wegner controls from within his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wegner is looking to work some ground and pound but Knox has wrist control. Knox lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Wegner is trying to control the position but Knox postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knox distracts Wegner with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Knox throws a big elbow that misses. Knox wants to control from the top but Wegner keeps moving. Wegner is pulling down on Knox's head. It's preventing any offense from Knox, at least for the moment. Knox throws a big right hand that misses. Wegner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wegner can do anything to dispel that myth. Knox postures up and lands a big shot to Wegner's brow. Wegner keeping moving, preventing Knox from controlling successfully. Knox throws an elbow that misses. Wegner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Knox's guard. Nice move by Wegner!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wegner chips away with some ground and pound. Knox controls Wegner momentarily but Wegner frees himself. Wegner trying to control but Knox is working from the bottom. Knox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wegner working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Knox's head. Wegner lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wegner throws a big right hand that misses. Knox lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Knox postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wegner managing to control the position. Knox is looking to work some ground and pound but Wegner has wrist control. Knox missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Knox trying to control but Wegner is working from the bottom. Wegner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Knox accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Knox trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Knox sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wegner's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wegner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Knox throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Knox throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Knox will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Knox throws a series of punches but Wegner avoids them all with ease. And Wegner tries to counter it with a takedown but Knox pushes his down on his head and steps out. Wegner has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Knox is landing a low percentage of strikes. Knox connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wegner. Wegner circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Knox ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wegner moves away. Wegner is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Wegner dives in and grabs Knox's left leg, looking for a takedown. Knox pushes down on Wegner's head and hops out. Knox paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Wegner slips under a jab from Knox. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wegner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Wegner drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Knox defends it well. Wegner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wegner wants it to stay on the feet. Wegner with the counter takedown but Knox avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knox throws a shot from downtown. Wegner moves away and avoids it. Jab from Knox. Knox scores with a punch to the head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wegner. Knox is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wegner can do to turn this around? Knox fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wegner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Knox.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wegner slips a jab from Knox. Wegner with the counter takedown but Knox avoids it easily. Wegner scores with a takedown into Knox's guard. Wegner works over Knox with some ground and pound from guard. Knox controls Wegner momentarily but Wegner frees himself. Knox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wegner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wegner postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Knox has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wegner won't allow Knox to sweep him here. Wegner throwing strikes but missing. Wegner working some strikes from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wegner stopping the sweep attempt from Knox. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Knox here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Wegner with a nice head shot there. Knox controls Wegner momentarily but Wegner frees himself. Wegner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Knox's head. Wegner is working Knox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Knox looking for a sweep. Not yet Knox, not yet. Wegner cracks Knox with a solid left hand. Knox will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

This has been an exciting period of action! Wegner pulls Knox in close to prevent any damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
John Knox dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Knox connects with a nice looking jab.
Jorg Wegner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Knox uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. The fighters circling - Knox throws out the jab but it was never going to land. And Wegner tries to counter it with a takedown but Knox pushes his down on his head and steps out. John Knox is winning the standup battle so far. Wegner shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Knox manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knox looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wegner is one step ahead there. Wegner connects with a couple of short punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knox looking for a sweep. Not yet Knox, not yet. Knox is working hard here to advance position. Wegner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Knox looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wegner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Knox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wegner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Knox with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wegner working Knox over with strikes. Wegner scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Wegner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Knox is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Wegner slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knox is looking for a sweep. Wegner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Wegner looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Knox is trying to get back to full guard. Wegner lands strikes from half guard. Knox gets full guard. Wegner stands up over Knox, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Knox is trying to keep Wegner in close.
Knox bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wegner's guard. Wegner seems keen to control Knox's posture. Wegner wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knox wants to control from the top but Wegner keeps moving. Knox throwing strikes but missing. Wegner keeping full guard, as Knox tries to pass. Knox being controlled here momentarily. Knox in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wegner trying to keep a closed guard but Knox is proving a slippery customer.
Knox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wegner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Knox's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Knox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wegner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Knox loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Knox postures up in Wegner's guard and throws a big left but Wegner blocks it. Knox with a flurry of punches that miss. Knox wants to pass the guard but Wegner is keeping the position. Knox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wegner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wegner gets cracked there but stands up to it.
John Knox is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Knox misses with a hook. Wegner ducked under it nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Knox. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Knox, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
