Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nirmal Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vanderlei Savini!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savini scores with a jab to the jaw.

Singh closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Singh blocks an uppercut.

Singh has picked Savini up - he's going for a ride! Singh dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Singh works his way into side control.
Savini really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Singh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Savini is looking for a sweep.

Singh decides to stand up, so the ref orders Savini to his feet.

Singh gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Singh's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Singh takes one to the chin there.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Singh rushes Savini and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Singh jumps guard.
Singh is pulling down on Savini's head to control his posture.
Singh lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Singh sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Singh working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Singh passes Savini's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Singh stands up from half guard.
Savini doesn't manage to clinch there - Singh circles away.
Singh throws a big counter combination but Savini scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Singh gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Singh with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Singh working hard to break the clinch.
Savini struggles to land a body shot inside as Singh controls his hands.

Singh has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Savini uses from the top position.
Singh seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Savini has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Singh to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Savini is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Singh pulls down on the head and he's put Savini to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nirmal Singh!
