Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy McCranky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy McCranky!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren King!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCranky keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from King.
King slips a jab and a cross from McCranky.
King throws a shot from downtown. McCranky moves away and avoids it.
King works the jab nicely.
King swings for the body but McCranky moves out of range.
King loads up on a big right hand but McCranky slips the punch.
King thows a left - swing and a miss!

McCranky closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McCranky lands in his opponent's guard.
McCranky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

McCranky thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
King avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as King holds on and takes a little breather.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCranky looking to pass the guard.
McCranky throwing strikes but missing.
McCranky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. King is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McCranky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

King stuffs the takedown attempt from McCranky. McCranky gets slowly back to his feet.
King pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McCranky gets a takedown into half guard.
McCranky is pressing down on King's thigh, looking to free his foot. King is holding on for now.

McCranky seems to be looking for submissions.

McCranky is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
King avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McCranky.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCranky sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. King defending well though.
King trying to control from the bottom.
McCranky prevents King from improving his position.

McCranky is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, King has managed to free his arm - good work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
King takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McCranky staying out of range there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
King connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McCranky's hands.

McCranky shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
McCranky is breathing heavily.
King has McCranky pulled in close to control his posture.
McCranky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
King wants to stand but McCranky is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King keeping full guard, as McCranky tries to pass.
McCranky advances to half guard.
King is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy McCranky dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Jab by King.
King stalks McCranky and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into McCranky's face. McCranky staggers backwards, shaken.
McCranky tries to clinch but King moves out of range.
McCranky slips a jab from King.

McCranky looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
McCranky is in close to King's body, working some short punches and elbows.
McCranky throwing strikes from guard but King blocks nicely.
McCranky missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
McCranky wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCranky decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
McCranky is looking to clinch.
King cracks a nice hook into McCranky's ribs.
Danga de danga de dang - King scores with a four punch combination!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCranky moves out of range as King strikes.
King connects with a nice looking jab.
King might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
King misses with a straight right.
McCranky shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed McCranky's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McCranky takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A left and a right from King both land. Nice combination.


McCranky is rocked!
King with a hook.
Oh McCranky is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McCranky thows a left - swing and a miss!
King throws a monster overhand right that drops McCranky! King follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darren King!
Darren King is the new featherweight champion!
