PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugus Amiga (ranked 23720 p4p, 23723 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 52 - 48 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 72 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salvacion defends well and Amiga ends up having to push Salvacion into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salvacion only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Salvacion can't get the takedown.

Salvacion turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Amiga struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amiga keeps working.

The referee asks Salvacion politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Salvacion prefers to stall for the moment though.

Amiga is looking to reverse the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Salvacion as he avoids it easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Amiga sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Amiga.
Amiga looks for a takedown but Salvacion sprawls well.
Salvacion throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kugus Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Amiga to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Salvacion has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Salvacion is trying to control the position but Amiga postures up.
Amiga not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Amiga postures up in Salvacion's guard and throws a big left but Salvacion blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kugus Amiga will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Amiga closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salvacion quickly recovers to half guard.
Salvacion trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga controlling the pace for now.

Salvacion tries to hold on but Amiga pushes him away.
Kugus Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Salvacion is trying to escape the mount.
Amiga controlling his opponent.
Salvacion tries to lock up and control but Amiga gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Amiga punching from mount but Salvacion doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Salvacion is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Amiga tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Salvacion wants to hold on but Amiga pushes him away.
Amiga trying to control but Salvacion is having none of it.

Salvacion is squirming around, avoiding Amiga's attempts to control the action.

Kugus Amiga dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Amiga.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Amiga enables Salvacion to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Amiga manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga controls Salvacion momentarily but Salvacion frees himself.
Amiga is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Salvacion is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Salvacion stopping the sweep attempt from Amiga.
Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?
Salvacion wants to control from the top but Amiga keeps moving.
Salvacion slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head. It's preventing any offense from Amiga, at least for the moment.

Salvacion is looking to sweep but instead, Amiga has passed into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Salvacion controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Clifford Val Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kugus Amiga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Amiga perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kugus Amiga showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Amiga, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
