Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jayilton Almeda (ranked 1351 p4p, 755 weight class) and Charles Barkley (ranked 165 p4p, 89 weight class). Almeda comes into the arena with Anota AĆ - MC Lipi blaring out of the sound system. Barkley has chosen Space Jam as his entrance music. Jayilton Almeda could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Charles Barkley's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charles Barkley!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeda avoids a kick to the body.
Almeda throws a right and a left that Barkley avoids nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Barkley. Almeda does a little dance to reset his feet.
Barkley stuffs the takedown attempt from Almeda. Almeda gets slowly back to his feet.
Almeda misses with the combination.
Almeda throws a head kick but Barkley moves out of range.
Barkley connects with a looping right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Almeda moves in looking to clinch but Barkley pushes him off.
Barkley checks a low kick from Almeda.
Barkley ducks under a wild hook from Almeda.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barkley! But no joy.
Barkley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Almeda gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Barkley counters with a nice uppercut.
Almeda bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Barkley's head backwards.
Almeda misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Barkley lands with a nice body punch.
Almeda lands a jab to the head.
It looks like Charles Barkley has been cut.
Almeda connects with a right hand. Barkley shakes it off.
Barkley punishes Almeda's body with a nice straight punch.
Almeda throws a sloppy head kick and Barkley moves out of range easily.
Almeda has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Forge š in the buildup to the fight.
A big left from Almeda misses.
Almeda tries a head kick but it misses.
A lazy left from Barkley finds it's target.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Almeda bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Almeda with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Barkley to score with a decent uppercut.
Almeda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barkley to the mat! Barkley manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Almeda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Almeda working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Barkley's head.

Almeda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Barkley pulls Almeda in close to prevent any damage.
Almeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barkley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Almeda is working hard here to advance position.
Almeda is looking to work some ground and pound but Barkley has wrist control.
Almeda trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Barkley misses with a low kick.
Barkley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Barkley scores with a nice strike.
Almeda jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Barkley throws a jab but it's blocked by Almeda.
Almeda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barkley manages to avoid it.
Barkley let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jayilton Almeda dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Charles Barkley's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Almeda moves into range and connects with a jab.
Barkley drops Almeda with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Almeda looks back up at him and smiles so Barkley waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Jayilton Almeda has been cut.
Sloppy strikes from Almeda. Those never looked like landing.

Almeda bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Almeda drops Barkley with a left right combo! Almeda follows him down to the ground into side control.

Almeda tries to move into full mount but can't pass Barkley's legs.
Barkley tries to improve position but can't.
Barkley sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Almeda trying to mount his opponent but Barkley defends it.

Almeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barkley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Almeda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Barkley tries to get to full guard but Almeda has control of the leg.

Almeda frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
