Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walker Mathis (ranked 3797 p4p, 4976 weight class) and Bryson Vincent (ranked 358 p4p, 451 weight class). Bryson Vincent has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Walker Mathis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryson Vincent! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Vincent counters with a nice body shot. Mathis drives through and clinches with Vincent against the cage.
Vincent has had enough of the clinch but Mathis keeps him there for the moment. A frustrated look appears on Vincent's face as he tries to break the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Vincent's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mathis misses with a punch to the body.
Mathis turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mathis manages to end up in side control. Vincent tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mathis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Vincent is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vincent is trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathis trying to control the action but Vincent is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Vincent's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Vincent felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Vincent tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mathis taking a breather here. Mathis wants to control but Vincent is keeping him busy. Vincent regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Vincent wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Mathis there. Mathis content to control rather than advance. Mathis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mathis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Mathis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vincent looks like he's trying to stand up.

Vincent is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mathis is staying active. Mathis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Mathis looking to control and managing it successfully. BOOM! Mathis connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mathis landing strikes from the mount. Mathis lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

It looks like Bryson Vincent has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Oooooh, big shot lands for Mathis! Vincent is hurt baaadly! Mathis is firing away with more strikes - Vincent is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Walker Mathis! After winning the bout, Walker Mathis thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
