Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Nagy (ranked 4143 p4p, 4179 weight class) and Teariki Ropata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Nagy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Teariki Ropata!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nagy closes the distance and pushes Ropata back into the cage.
Ropata misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ropata tries to throw a body punch but Nagy avoids it by throwing Ropata back against the cage.
Ropata tries a body shot but Nagy blocks it.
Ropata swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Nagy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ropata fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nagy looks to land a combination. Ropata sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Nagy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ropata defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ropata scores with a sloppy right hand. Nagy should have avoided that one.
Ropata connects with a body shot.
Ropata slaps away a takedown attempt from Nagy, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nagy shoots in looking for a takedown but Ropata manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nagy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nagy moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ropata jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nagy gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nagy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Teariki Ropata is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nagy slips a jab from Ropata.
Nagy is looking to counter the offense by Ropata and move into the clinch.
Nagy dives in for a single leg takedown but Ropata sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ropata tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Nagy is working for takedown but Ropata is calmly controlling the position for now.

Nagy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ropata misses with a looping right.
Nagy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like Ropata was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Nagy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ropata.
Nagy throws a counter high kick but Ropata was just alert enough to avoid it.
Nagy walks into a stiff left hand from Ropata.

Nagy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nagy blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Nagy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ropata lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ropata lunges at Nagy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nagy's hand.
Ropata connects with a right hand. Nagy shakes it off.
Ropata misses with a straight right.
Ropata throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ropata uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Nagy closes the distance and pushes Ropata back into the cage.
Ropata throws a head punch that misses.
Nagy slows down the pace here.
Ropata misses with a short punch on the inside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ropata misses with some punches.
A nice left hand lands by Ropata.

Nagy pulls Ropata into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ropata wants to stand and escape but instead Nagy has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ropata wants to get back to his feet but Nagy passes into half guard.
Ropata scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Nagy manages to mount him!
Nagy moves to the back position.

Ropata defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Nagy's arms.
Nagy controls the position.
Ropata wants to get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Teariki Ropata dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Ropata throws a punch but it's blocked by Nagy.
Ropata can't find room to land a body shot as Nagy controls the action.

Ropata blocks an elbow strike from Nagy.
Ropata has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ropata working aggressively here.
Ropata prevents a takedown attempt there.
Nagy stalling.
Teariki Ropata seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Nagy has Ropata pulled in close to control his posture.

Ropata wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Nagy's closed guard. He's half up but Nagy has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Nagy pivots and extends the arm, Ropata falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Nagy! Well done that man!
