Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harri Maepere! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Sewell! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Sewell misses. Maepere looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Maepere throws a sloppy head kick and Sewell moves out of range easily. Sewell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maepere's guard. Maepere is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Maepere keeping full guard, as Sewell tries to pass. Maepere is working an open guard so Sewell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Joshua Sewell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sewell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sewell is looking for a kimura but Maepere is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sewell to get the leverage. Sewell lands strikes from half guard. Sewell lands with a punch from half guard. Sewell winds up and cracks Maepere with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Sewell passes to full mount! Sewell stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maepere gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Maepere throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sewell has eaten all the pies! Sewell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Sewell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maepere looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sewell has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maepere has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Sewell punishes Maepere with strikes from the back mount. Sewell scores with punches to the body. Maepere is trying to get back to his feet but Sewell has full control of the position and if anything, Maepere has just worked his way into a worse spot. Maepere prevents Sewell from getting a body triangle. Maepere turns into Sewell and is now in his guard.
Sewell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maepere is one step ahead there. Maepere wants to stand but Sewell has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Maepere tries to close the distance and clinch but Sewell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A combination from Sewell does no damage. Sewell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sewell rushes Maepere and presses him up against the cage. Sewell is trying to trip Maepere. He has hold of a leg but Maepere is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sewell persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Sewell looking to pass the guard. Maepere had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sewell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Maepere Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sewell's back instead. Maepere goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Sewell escapes and is now in half guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sewell prevents Maepere from standing back up.
Sewell seems to be looking for submissions.
Maepere looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Maepere actively working from the bottom here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maepere has hold of Sewell's hands but Sewell slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Maepere is trying to stand back up but Sewell is controlling him

That's one minute gone in the round. Sewell gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Maepere tries to clinch but fails miserably and Sewell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maepere! Sewell won't let Maepere get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Maepere tries to reverse the position but Sewell maintains control. Sewell won't let Maepere get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Sewell stands up from mount. Strange move. Maepere tries to clinch and Sewell moves into the clinch. A bit of stalling here from Sewell.

Maepere has Sewell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sewell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Sewell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice shot by Sewell. Maepere shoots and misses and Sewell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maepere's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harri Maepere. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sewell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Maepere gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sewell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sewell. Maepere is looking for a triangle but Sewell pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maepere is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sewell trying to control but Maepere is working from the bottom. Sewell stands up from Maepere's guard - Sewell perhaps looking for a knockout. Maepere tries for a takedown but Sewell circles away easily and Sewell counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sewell misses with a knee to the head. Sewell prevents a takedown attempt there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sewell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Maepere has him pressed against the cage. Maepere lands a knee to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joshua Sewell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sewell scores with a hook to the body. Sewell jumps guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sewell has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Maepere wants to stand and escape but instead Sewell has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Maepere is looking for a triangle but Sewell pushes his legs off easily.
Maepere wants to get back to his feet but Sewell is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Maepere is wriggling around but Sewell manages to pass to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sewell is trying to work for a kimura but Maepere is defending well.

Maepere really wants to buck Sewell off and get back to his feet. Sewell looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Maepere squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Maepere is trying to reverse the position but instead Sewell has taken his back - oops! Joshua Sewell has got the better of the ground game so far. Sewell lands strikes to the head. Sewell is trying to stick to Maepere's back but Maepere is turning into Sewell. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sewell's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Maepere. Maepere will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Maepere drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sewell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sewell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sewell! Maepere is pushing Sewell's head away, looking to escape. Sewell manages to hold on to the position though. Sewell moves into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maepere wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maepere is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Sewell has taken his back.

Sewell is punishing Maepere with strikes - can he finish him?! Maepere defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Sewell's arms. Maepere is trying to stand back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maepere turns into Sewell and is now in his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Joshua Sewell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Sewell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
