Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Beneke (ranked 2837 p4p, 2643 weight class) and Jim Rhat (ranked 332 p4p, 315 weight class). Rhat has chosen Das Ist It as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Beneke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Rhat!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beneke staying out of range there.
Rhat misses with a head kick.
Beneke throws a shot from downtown. Rhat moves away and avoids it.
Rhat is looking to chop away at Beneke's legs.
Beneke seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Rhat looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rhat throws a wild body kick that Beneke sees coming a mile off.
Beneke blocks a head kick by Rhat.

Beneke shoots in and bounces Rhat off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beneke has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the ropes to get back to his feet. Rhat has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the ropes.

Beneke manages to break the clinch.

Rhat shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rhat showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beneke won't allow Rhat to pass to mount.

A decent looking cross lands there for Beneke.
Beneke throws a lazy right hand but Rhat sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rhat misses the jab.
Beneke misses with a looping left.
Beneke misses with a wild body shot.
Rhat avoids the body shot from Beneke.
Beneke misses with an attempted mid kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beneke. Rhat does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rhat lets loose with a powerful body kick. Beneke will feel that in the morning.
Rhat throws a hook but Beneke avoids it easily.
A big left from Rhat misses.
Rhat closes the distance and clinches up with Beneke, looking for a takedown. Rhat pushes Beneke against the ropes but Beneke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Beneke lands with a right hand.
Beneke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rhat circles away quickly and effectively.
Beneke stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rhat.
Beneke ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rhat missing with a left hand there. Beneke was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Beneke is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rhat's half guard.

Beneke stands up and beckons Rhat to join him on the feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rhat is defended easily by Beneke.
Rhat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Beneke's waist but Beneke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rhat off to one side.

Beneke scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Beneke moves out of range of the strikes.
Beneke lands a nice looking body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Beneke slaps away a takedown attempt from Rhat, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mark Beneke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Rhat.
Beneke throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rhat.

Beneke lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Rhat throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Beneke was covering up waiting for the punch and Rhat finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rhat throws a big elbow that misses.
Rhat sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Beneke's guard.
Rhat is trying to control. Beneke wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rhat wants to advance to full mount but Beneke doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Beneke stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Rhat takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Rhat shoots in looking for a takedown but Beneke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rhat's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Beneke lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Beneke fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rhat manages to avoid it.
Rhat was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Beneke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rhat to the mat! Rhat manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rhat working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beneke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beneke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Rhat goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Beneke has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rhat but great work by Beneke.

Beneke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rhat moves away.

Beneke connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Rhat moves forwards but Beneke connects with a nice, crisp jab.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rhat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Rhat takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd cheers as Rhat lands an impressive looking overhand right. Beneke doesn't seem phased though.

Mark Beneke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A bone on bone clash there as Beneke blocks the leg kick.
Beneke sizes up Rhat with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Rhat throws a chopping leg kick but Beneke manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Beneke catches Rhat with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Beneke takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Beneke.
Well Beneke has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Mark Beneke rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
