PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Csongor Kiss (ranked 4290 p4p, 3423 weight class) and Shinji Tseung (ranked 481 p4p, 408 weight class). Tseung has chosen Kacey Talk - NBA Youngboy as his entrance music. Csongor Kiss is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Csongor Kiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tseung!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiss slips under a jab.
Kiss fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kiss dives in for a single leg takedown but Tseung sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kiss jumps guard but Tseung turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Csongor Kiss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tseung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kiss closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kiss changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tseung fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kiss has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiss shoots in looking for a takedown. Tseung tries to sprawl out of it but Kiss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tseung manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kiss fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tseung avoids it really well and circles away.

Tseung dives in and scores a takedown into Kiss's guard.
Tseung content to stall in guard here.
Kiss thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Tseung pushing down on Kiss's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Tseung seems to be working for a kimura but Kiss defends the submission attempt.

Tseung tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kiss.

Tseung is looking for a kimura but Kiss is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tseung to get the leverage.
Tseung missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Tseung is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kiss gets back to full guard.
Tseung wants to control from the top but Kiss keeps moving.
Tseung has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kiss controls Tseung momentarily but Tseung frees himself.
Tseung wanted to stand there but Kiss had control of the position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Kiss manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Kiss gets control of Tseung's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kiss will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Tseung wants to control from the top but Kiss keeps moving.

Kiss has his foot on Tseung's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tseung works his way back into a safe position though.
Tseung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiss swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tseung wants to get up but he can't break Kiss's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kiss working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tseung.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kiss throws a body shot but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tseung tries a head kick but it misses.

Kiss gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Tseung manages to break the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shinji Tseung dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kiss shoots in for a takedown but Tseung shows good takedown defense.
Kiss avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kiss half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Tseung changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kiss tries to avoid it but Tseung manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kiss to the ground. Kiss escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kiss closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tseung is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kiss to keep the fight standing.

Tseung wants to sweep here but Kiss controlling him for the moment.

Kiss knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tseung on the ground.
Kiss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Tseung is pulling down on Kiss's head to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tseung gets a takedown into half guard.
Tseung is breathing heavily.
Kiss makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kiss.

Kiss has Tseung pulled in close to control his posture.
Tseung controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kiss wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tseung wants to control from the top but Kiss keeps moving.

Tseung preventing the sweep.
Kiss is looking to stand up but Tseung isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Kiss closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tseung circles away.
Tseung is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Kiss gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Tseung counters with a left and a right that stings Kiss.

Tseung tries to clinch there but Kiss circles away.

Kiss has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Tseung is on him like a limpet, forcing Kiss back against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tseung tries to break free but Kiss pushes him back against the cage.

Kiss jumps into guard, dragging Tseung to the mat.
Kiss keeping full guard, as Tseung tries to pass.
Tseung throws an elbow that misses. Kiss uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tseung's guard. Nice move by Kiss!

Kiss stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tseung swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kiss prevents Tseung from getting back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Csongor Kiss dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Tseung closes the distance and clinches up with Kiss, looking for a takedown. Tseung pushes Kiss against the cage but Kiss circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kiss attempts a counter takedown but Tseung avoids it well and moves away.
Tseung tries a head kick but it misses.

Kiss fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tseung, pushing him back against the cage.
Tseung misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kiss effectively controlling the action here.
Kiss is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Tseung has had enough of the clinch but Kiss keeps him there for the moment.
Tseung changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kiss fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Tseung counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Tseung frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Tseung is landing with some decent strikes but Kiss is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Kiss is squirming around, avoiding Tseung's attempts to control the action.
Tseung fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Tseung lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Tseung postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kiss looks a forlorn figure.
Tseung trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kiss regains half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tseung wants to pass the guard but Kiss is defending well.
Tseung looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kiss controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Kiss looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Tseung is trying to control the action in half guard but Kiss is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tseung looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tseung seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kiss does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kiss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tseung is working away from the top position though.
Tseung lands with a punch from half guard.
Kiss has hold of Tseung's hands but Tseung slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiss wants to control but Tseung passes into side.
Tseung controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shinji Tseung comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tseung has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
