PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Craig (ranked 4616 p4p, 3827 weight class) and Shamsudin Mamedsharipov (ranked 454 p4p, 415 weight class). Mamedsharipov has chosen katyusha as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shamsudin Mamedsharipov!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Craig closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Craig closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mamedsharipov to the mat! Mamedsharipov manages to get full guard.

Craig is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mamedsharipov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Craig's guard.

Craig is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mamedsharipov is controlling him.

Craig throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mamedsharipov's waist but Mamedsharipov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Craig off to one side.

We've been informed that Mamedsharipov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Craig gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mamedsharipov is trying to push Craig away but Craig has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ryan Craig seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Craig breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mamedsharipov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Shamsudin Mamedsharipov has been cut.
Mamedsharipov throws out a leg kick but Craig moves out of range and Mamedsharipov only half commits.
Craig appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Craig shoots in for a takedown but Mamedsharipov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shamsudin Mamedsharipov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Craig in particular looking to stall.
