PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Mehoff (ranked 5249 p4p, 4380 weight class) and Jacky Brute (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Mehoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacky Brute!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mehoff misses with a leg kick

and Brute counters with a shoot takedown. Mehoff fights it but they end up in guard.
Brute would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mehoff pushes Brute off and scrambles back to his feet.

Brute clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mehoff tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brute just stands there and leans against the cage.
Brute prevents the takedown attempt.
Brute changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mehoff fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mehoff tries to sprawl but Brute drives through with a takedown into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Brute looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mehoff passes into side control.

Mehoff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brute knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brute looking to score a takedown here. Mehoff is defending well but Brute drives through and ends up in Mehoff's guard.

Brute really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mehoff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brute tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brute has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Brute goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mehoff is on top in guard.

Brute feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
