PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terry Farley (ranked 1439 p4p, 865 weight class) and Minor Cuevas (ranked 206 p4p, 125 weight class). Farley is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Minor Cuevas has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terry Farley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Minor Cuevas!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cuevas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Farley sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Farley is breathing heavily.
Cuevas misses the jab.
Cuevas lands a jab to the nose.
Cuevas misses with an uppercut. Farley saw that one coming.
A right-left combo lands from Cuevas.
Farley avoids the body shot from Cuevas.
Cuevas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Farley moves away.
Farley definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cuevas throws a hook but Farley avoids it easily.
Farley displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cuevas throws out the jab.
Farley tries to move into range but Cuevas moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Cuevas misses the jab.
No joy there for Cuevas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Farley slips a straight right by Cuevas.
Farley has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Farley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cuevas.
Farley moves out of range as Cuevas strikes.
It looked like Farley wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Cuevas throws a jab but it's blocked by Farley.
A big right from Cuevas misses.
Cuevas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Cuevas lands a jab-cross combination.

Farley slips a jab from Cuevas.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Farley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
An attempted straight right counter from Farley misses the target.
Farley defending well as Cuevas loads up on a big left hand.
Cuevas scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Cuevas might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Farley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cuevas.
Farley swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Farley avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Farley on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Minor Cuevas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cuevas throws a big shot that misses.
Cuevas falls off balance throwing a combination
and Farley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Cuevas misses with a looping right.
Farley uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cuevas.
Cuevas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Farley.
Cuevas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It looked like Farley wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Farley is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Cuevas.

Oh Farley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cuevas misses with a looping left.

Cuevas is working the combinations to good effect here.

Cuevas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cuevas misses with a hook.
Farley throwing a counter right hand but Cuevas manages to avoid it.

Cuevas throws a lazy uppercut
and Farley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cuevas scores with a jab to the body.
Cuevas throws a looping overhand right but Farley ducks down to avoid it.
A little feinted left hand from Farley on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Cuevas throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A lazy left from Cuevas finds it's target.
Cuevas cracks Farley on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Farley falls backwards against the cage. Cuevas follows up with more strikes that drop Farley to his knees. Cuevas keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Farley! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Minor Cuevas!
An out of breath Minor Cuevas thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
