PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeramiah Pony (ranked 1142 p4p, 1412 weight class) and Vincent Duboulay (ranked 88 p4p, 110 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Duboulay's choice of entrance music: World On Fire. Jeramiah Pony is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeramiah Pony!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vincent Duboulay!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duboulay closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pony is trying to control but can't.
Pony is concentrating on defense, preventing Duboulay from advancing position.
Pony keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Duboulay is looking for a kimura but Pony is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Duboulay to get the leverage.

Duboulay has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad The Island. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Duboulay drops back looking for a leg! Pony is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pony manages to kick Duboulay off! Duboulay jumps back into Pony's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pony wants to sweep here but Duboulay controlling him for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pony leaves Duboulay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pony half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Pony misses with an uppercut.
Duboulay fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Duboulay tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pony defends well and Duboulay ends up having to push Pony into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Duboulay shoots in looking for a takedown. Pony tries to sprawl out of it but Duboulay keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pony manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Duboulay shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Duboulay was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Duboulay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pony is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Duboulay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pony has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duboulay has managed to get both his arms back between Pony's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

A very excited looking Jeramiah Pony rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
